The fees are $200 for a 50-minute individual session and $240 for a 60-minute couples session. I also offer 90-minute individual sessions for $250. I offer 90-minute couples sessions for $280 and two-hour couples and family sessions for $320.

If you want to use your health insurance

I am not on insurance panels, but I can provide you with a monthly invoice (or “superbill”) that you can send to your insurance company for reimbursement if you have out-of-network health insurance benefits. For example, PPO plans offered by Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Cigna and Aetna pay a portion of the cost of therapy.

With some insurance companies such as Magellan, you can ask for a “single payer agreement” if you’ve had trouble finding a therapist who is on your insurance panel and who specializes in the issues for which you seek therapy.

If you can afford to pay out of pocket, there are several advantages to not using insurance for payment.

  • Paying for your therapy out of pocket gives you protection and control over your therapy because it denies managed care providers access to your therapy records. This ensures that your health insurance company cannot access your diagnosis or treatment information, information that could potentially be used to deny you access to specific treatments or keep you from changing insurers should you lose your job.
  • Sometimes managed care providers dictate how your therapy should proceed, despite having little or no background or skill in the provision of psychotherapy. Their main objective is to keep their costs as minimal as possible. I prefer to work with YOU to determine how long we will work together, how often we schedule our sessions, what we work on and how we proceed.
